Crossing Souls is an action adventure game about a group of friends on an adventure of a lifetime; filled to the brim with 80s references.
Anyone who grew up in the 80s now considers it the coolest decade ever. It isn’t, of course, just remember all those bad TV shows, crappy music, and cringe-inducing haircuts. But nostalgia is extremely powerful. And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. Looking at the 80s now, it WAS cool, because we were young and life was rife with possibilities and adventures.
If you’re seeking for that nostalgia rush wrapped in a very promising action adventure package, you might be interested in Crossing Souls. It’s set in 1986 California and follows a group of friends who discover a mysterious pink stone that allows them to travel between two realms. The story includes a government conspiracy, cowboys, pirates, and characters that are a thousand years old. It’s definitely looking to be a summer to remember. Each of the five kids you get to control have special skills both while fighting and solving puzzles.
The combat is real time and the developers are promising “powerful bosses” and “special levels inspired by 80s arcade video games”. But really, this game is all about those 80s. Crossing Souls looks absolutely amazing. The pixel graphics give off that retro vibe while, in reality, looking very modern. The cutscenes look like something straight out of a Saturday morning cartoon, and the synth-laden soundtrack will get you in the groove. Additionally, according to developer Fourattic and uber-cool indie publisher Devolver Digital, Crossing Souls will be filled to the brim with 80s references, such as The Goonies, Gremlins, and Back to the Future.
There is no definite release date as of yet, but Crossing Souls is supposed to come out sometime in Spring 2017.Published in
