We found a great deal on the highly-anticipated role-playing game set in Monte Cook’s Numenera universe; Torment is out in ten days.
Torment: Tides of Numenera is the spiritual successor to the cult classic Planescape: Torment. It takes place in the mysterious and wondrous Ninth World, which is actually Earth one billion years in the future. Developer InXile Entertainment has been gearing up for the game’s release by releasing a series of videos that showcase the different aspects of the unique role-playing game.
The first one was an interactive video that allowed players to make choices that directly impact a small side quest with seven possible outcomes. The second video focused on the combat, showcasing all the possible options players have at their disposal. One of the most unique aspects of the combat system is that it sometimes allows you to continue talking to your enemies in an effort to persuade or intimidate them to stop fighting.
The most recent one provided a back story to the intriguing Changing God, “a man who found a way to cheat death”. It also tells us about an ancient creature known as The Sorrow whose only purpose is to “eradicate the death cheater and all of his cast-offs”.
When we played the initial Early Access release about a year ago, we immediately recognized that the role-playing game had great potential: “Torment: Tides of Numenera is a different type of RPG, one that emphasizes storytelling, decision-making and world building. It’s imaginative, strange and full of wonder.” Back then, it was still rough around the edges, but from what we’ve seen, it has come a long way since.
If you’re already convinced that Torment: Tides of Numenera is the game for you, it’s available for pre-order right now for only $31.13 at Digital Librty. The full game comes out on February 27.Published in
